Contests
As you should know by now, there has been a pair of contests running in literature for the last few weeks. What you don't know, is that one is done, and one has been extended. We've also run into a little trouble and what to make sure you know.
In The End poetry competition has come to a close. No more entries will be accepted, and the judges will be hard at work making sure to get the winners out as soon as possible. On the prose side, The Butler Did It! has been extended for an additional week. Remember to send your entries to
You may notice that the categories for the contests are unable to be browsed. This is a known bug with new categories, and is being looked at right now. We hope that it will be cleared up soon, so that everyone can read the entries.
Keep your eyes open for the entries to appear.
Data Loss
Some older literature deviations, and some deviations that have been moved to storage, are missing the actual writing part of the submission. If this bug is affecting any of your work can you collate links to the pieces and note them to imperfect or email poetry@deviantart.com.
Got News?

The news system is a great way to reach a wider audience and we'd all like to know of events and gossip from around the site.

All your life
Inspired by old friends updating olds friends I figured, what the bloody hell, let's do an update Toni.
coshdaddy (https://www.deviantart.com/coshdaddy) and I have been married for 7 whole years! We have a little girl who is not so little now and will be 3 very soon. She is scrumptious. I gave up my job earlier this year and now I make _things_ from concrete and wood for fun/art/spare cash. Life has shifted tremendously and so have priorities and things that fill my heart.
Life still splats sadness around me but it's easier to draw love hearts in the window dust to let moonlight in.
A toddler's giggle is the best sound ever.
Mama called you baby center stage
we are both swimming blind
bite your cake, sip your brew
math
(...)you're still very loveable
I have a favour to ask (it's a big one) and it requires a certain amount of your time but I hope I am worth it.
Here goes.
Tell me about yourself in 56 words.
Writing with limits is good. Learning about people is fascinating.

just a thought - could those running the prose and poetry contests set up news articles that link to the entries? esp. the prose contest, due to its interactive nature (detectives and guessing and such).
i had a lot of fun with that contest. cheers!
